Dear Plantation Hills Residents,
Our neighborhood faces many issues which affect the lives of our residents everyday from citywide road and intersection changes and school rezoning to Mother Nature and crime. We need to have the ability to communicate and come together in order to react and respond to these issues as a unified community. There has been interest over the past few years in forming some type of neighborhood association, but it has never gained the necessary momentum. Currently, we have a voluntary neighborhood association called the Plantation Hills Home Owners Association (PHHOA) and Neighborhood Watch Group. We believe this voluntary neighborhood association is the best place to start. The purpose for the following questionnaire is to determine what needs to be done, the best way to communicate with everyone, and who is willing and able to help.
The issue which has been given the most attention so far has been the relocation of Canada Road. To prepare for the added traffic through our neighborhood upon completion of this project, we need to strengthen our Neighborhood Watch Program. Other issues would include the need to provide upkeep to our entrances and common areas. This could be done with the use of a professional company through a service contract or through the use of volunteers. Another possible project has been mentioned to replace our street signs to match our mailboxes or with ones similar to those in Davies Plantation in order to make our neighborhood look nicer. The street signs would also contain the subdivision name so that our subdivision would be identified no matter what entrance was used. These are all things that would need to be decided through a vote by residents obtained through meetings or online communications.
Some efforts have been taken and several communication measures are already in place,
such as the Lakeland Citywatch newsletter, published bimonthly through the Council
of Lakeland Associations (COLA). Membership in COLA cost $50.00, billed annually
in January, and provides for a neighborhood column in each publication. A monthly

If we come together as a subdivision and volunteer our time and/or make a small financial commitment, we can achieve all this and more for a very moderate annual homeowners association fee. No funds would be collected until agreed to by a vote by homeowners at the next annual meeting in April. Officers, including a treasurer, would need to be elected and quarterly financial disclosure statements would be required.
Please take the time to fill out the attached survey to let us know what you expect from and what you are willing to provide to Plantation Hills Homeowners’ Association. Thank you.
